AGWA Design Store is preparing to host a fashion feast with the first ever Second Life Archive Markets for Perth, this Saturday 19 October. The Second Life Archive Markets are a haven for lovers of designer clothes and rare pieces including pre-loved bags, shoes and accessories. These designer markets have already been a huge hit in cities including London and Sydney, now Perth is getting its first “archive” markets, in the AGWA Foyer. |
Second Life Markets was started in Perth by best friends Meg Charnaud and Stella Brackenridge in 2019. Their idea to re-purpose pre-loved fashion has gone global and has resulted in a thriving vintage fashion business. Meg Charnaud explains, “Throughout the last year we have put a lot of effort into diversifying the Second Life experience. When we launched it in London over a year ago, Second Life Archive was instantly popular, and due to its success, we have been slowly introducing it into our Australian business as well. We are so excited for our first archive event in Perth amongst the Rone exhibition at AGWA!” The event is curated with only the best designer and haute couture garments. Fashion labels ready to be snapped up include Missoni, Dior, Vivienne Westwood, Gucci and much more. "It's really exciting to create an event that so many people want to continuously come back to. Our archive events focus on designer, archival and rare finds that our incredible vendors spend so much time sourcing. It's the perfect way to enter the designer scene with affordable pricing,” said Meg. A super shopper, Meg has chosen her favourite Design Store things. |

Julia Gutman, life in the third person AGWA welcomes Archibald-winning artist Julia Gutman as she unveils her first solo show in an Australian State Gallery and her largest textile work to date. Julia Gutman is a multi-disciplinary artist whose practice is anchored by an experimental textile process. Her figurative works are made primarily from donated, pre-loved fabric, including worn clothes and sheets. It was her textile portrait of the singer Montaigne, that won her the 2023 Archibald Prize. At the time, Gutman was only 29 years old, and the youngest winner in 85 years. We invite you to meet the artist and enjoy a live Rooftop performance by Montaigne, next Friday 25 October at AGWA.
