WAH-WAH Tadanori Yokoo “WORD IMAGE” Jumper

"What I love most is the absurd image which defies all explanations" - Tadanori Yokoo

In 1968, New York’s Museum of Modern Art was looking to promote their new exhibition “Word and Image” that celebrated the poster art of the 20th century. They turned to Japan’s Tadanori Yokoo, whose work had taken Japan’s art scene by storm with its startling combination of bold saturated colours and influence from traditional ukiyo-e woodblock prints. The result was a poster every bit as iconic and eye popping (literally!) as any in the exhibition it was created to promote!
